Sweden, b. 1965 in Hedemora.

Composition and electro acoustic music at the Royal University College of Music, Stockholm, diploma in 1997.

First sound artwork: Irata (1984), electro acoustic piece with sounds from pinballs.

 

Kim Hedås production contains chamber music, orchestral music, choral music, dance and theatre music as well as electro acoustic music and a childrens opera. Her music has been performed by ensembles such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Kroumata Percussion Ensemble, Kammarensemblen, The Pearls before Swine Experiment and VOX. Her music has been frequently performed at concerts, on the radio and TV, in Sweden as well as abroad.

 

She was engaged with the Swedish Radio P2 as a composer in residence 1998 - 2000. Her electro acoustic works, over fifteen, has been performed all over the world. The list of electro acoustic works includes pieces for instruments and electronics as well as several works with acoustic sounds transformed into music.

 

Her piece Good Morning, Love - It's Springtime In My Heart! gained a mention at the Stockholm Electronic Music Festival and a residence prize at Les Grand Prix Internationeaux de Musique Electroacoustic, Bourges.

Her piece Princess Bat with the Underground Stars was commissioned by Diffussion i MèDIA, and have been released in two CDs from the Canadian record company.

 

Kim Hedås has received grants and fellowships. She was awarded 1995 City of Stockholm Artist's Fellowship and the 1997 Major Fellowship of the Royal University College of Music, Stockholm.
